The attack comes just a week after the insurgents attacked Sasawa village in the same state
- The army however repelled the attack according to army spokesperson Col. Ogunsanya
- A villager confirmed the bravery of Nigerian troops who stopped the attackers in their tracks
The Nigerian army on Sunday, October 29 said it has repelled an attempted attack on Goniri village in Yobe on Saturday, October 28.
Spokesman of 3 Division with tactical headquarters in Damaturu Col. Kayode Ogunsanya confirmed this to News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in the state capital.
Ogunsanya, however, could not immediately give details of the operation.
A villager, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “The insurgents came in from the western flank of the village but were repelled by the soldiers.
“The soldiers had been on red alert since the attack on Sasawa village last Tuesday, making them battle ready.
“It did not take long when we heard the soldiers chanting victory songs, indicating that they were successful over the insurgents.”
NAN reports that two attacks were recorded in less than a week after a long period of relative peace enjoyed across the state.
Meanwhile, reported earlier that Nigerian soldiers in furtherance of their effort to defeat Boko Haram intercepted a terrorist bomb squad at Ngalle village, northern Borno State.
In a statement by Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman who is the director, army public relations on Sunday, October 29, he said the operation was carried out on Friday, October 27.
He said one terrorist was killed in the operation while their weapons were recovered.

16 years old commit suicide over low grade
Mercy Olamide Afolaranmi, a student of Microbiology at the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, has committed suicide.
According to the school’s Chief Security Officer, Babatunde Oyatokun, Miss Afolaranmi, poisoned herself. Students and a neighbour close to the deceased also said she killed herself due to poor grade.
“We got a call that one of our students took poison,” Mr. Oyatokun said. “We got to hospital to realise that she mixed rat poison. She gave us the contact of her parents but before they arrived, she already gave up due to the effect of the poison she took.”
A neighbour, Bimpe Oni, in an interview with PREMIUM TIMES, said Miss Afolaranmi, who lived off-campus at Sabo area of Ile-Ife, died on Thursday, after she took “rat poison mixed with battery extract.”
Mrs. Oni said the late student committed suicide because of “emotional pressure.” A student, Aisha, who was Miss Afolaranmi’s colleague in the Faculty of Science, said the deceased had ‘E’ in CHM101 (Chemistry for first year students), a reportedly dreaded course for year one students in the science and technology related faculties.
“Mercy often isolated herself in class and looked depressed,” said Aisha. “She told me she had ‘E’ in CHM101 and has been going around unhappy before this incident.” Another student in the Faculty of Student, Opeyemi, said “she took poison because of result.”
The school’s Dean of Students’ Affairs, Isiaka Aransi, also confirmed the news. “Although the reason and cause of her death is yet to be known, the division is aware of the death of Mercy,” she said.
Before her death, on October 10, she posted on Facebook that: “Above all other things, I just wanna see God, see what He looks like, speak with Him face to face. I don’t wanna miss heaven. LORD HELP ME.”

President Buhari approves payment of pension to former Biafra police
President Muhammadu Buhari approved payment of Biafra policemen
- They were dismissed at the end of the Biafra war
- They were pardoned during the Olusegun Obasanjo administration
President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the payment of pension to police officers who served
It was announced that about 162 of such retired police officers and 57 Next of Kin will be paid their benefits in the first phase which kicks off this month.
The police officers were granted presidential pardon in 2000.
The statement read:“The general public would recall that Nigeria witnessed an ugly civil war between July, 1967 and January, 1970 and as a result of that unfortunate period in our history, some members of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police and paramilitary officers who took part with the Secessionist were dismissed from the service.
“The dismissal of those officers was commuted to retirement in the year 2000 through a Presidential Amnesty granted on 29th May, 2000 by the Administration of the then President, Olusegun Obasanjo.
“A verification exercise was conducted for the pardoned officers by the defunct Police Pension Office and recently PTAD on one hand and the Police Service Commission on the other
Despite the Presidential pardon and verification of these officers, many of them remained unpaid years after the pardon. However, the present administration under the able leadership of President, Muhammadu Buhari has graciously given approval for the payment of pension entitlements to these officers and their Next of Kin.
“PTAD is commencing the payment of pension benefits to the retired war affected police officers on Friday October 20, 2017 in Enugu. 162 officers will be payrolled and 57 Next of Kin who have also not been paid their death benefits will be paid in the first batch.”
Meanwhile, Emmanuel Kanu, a young brother to the leader of Independent Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu denied a report that accused him of being behind the recent Monkey Pox vaccine hoax in the southeast region of the country.
In a statement sent to NAIJ.com, Emmanuel Kanu described the group as faceless, adding that the leader of the group was blind to the activities of IPOB.

4 Kinds Of Friends That Are Hindering Your Success
4 Kinds of Friends That Are Hindering Your
Success
By Johnspeak Uwangue (Motivational
Speaker, Talent Manager and Coach)
If success is what you seek in life;
business, career, Job, Marriage,
relationship etcetera, then you must learn
to avoid these four kinds of friends.
Friends are supposed to help us grow,
discover those unique abilities and
strength we never knew we had. But if
you always find yourself slowing down in
the pursuit of your vision, dreams or ideas,
you need to check the friends you keep.
It's easier to always blame our strategies
and enemies for our failures but
oftentimes, our principles may be right but
our so called friends may be the ones
working against our success directly or
indirectly.
This week, I will be sharing with you just
four kinds of friends out of many that are
hindering your success.
- The Parasitic
Parasitic friends are those who are always
taking from you and not giving back in
return. The most annoying part of this
kind of friends is that they will spend your
money or use your stuff and keep theirs.
This kind of friends always pretend not to
have meanwhile, they may even have more
than you. One easy way to know this kind
is that when you refuse or doesn't have to
give them, they automatically turn you to a
bad person. Parasitic friends will never let
you go until they have sucked you dry. In
the pursuit of your vision, dreams or ideas,
you will have to let go of them otherwise,
they may end up taking the little resources
that you should have used to take your
vision, ideas, talents and dreams forward.
- The Pharisees and The Saducees
The P&S friends are those friends who
always feel that they know more than you.
They will always point out a reason or two
why you may not succeed sometimes with
proofs and their personal experiences to
back it. These friends are too far to see
and too sad to see. I used to have friends
like this who always told me to abandon
my vision and ideas and follow the herd.
They always told me that dreams don't
come through in this part of the world.
They don't care about your vision, and
can't fathom why a little boy or girl like
you could have such a great vision.
- The Mockers and Complainers
Being mocked can have psychological
effects on people especially if they are your
friends. It's easier to turn deaf to the
mockeries of people who are outside your
friendship zone. Complaining weakens
great talents. When you hangout with
Complainers, in a short time, you may find
yourself complaining too instead of
strategizing on how to move forward.
Please understand that we need critics in
order to be able to perfect our products
and services, but when those critics are
our friends and are doing it out of hatred
then, there is a problem.
- The Unsupportive
Unsupportive friends are those who never
complain or mock you but will never
support your dreams and vision. In the
pursuit of our dreams, we need all the
supports that we can get. Unsupportive
friends will leave you to struggle alone
without a little support and are always the
first to complain that you've abandoned
them when you start reaping the fruits of
your labours.
Whether we want to or not, we all need
friends. Friends who are not parasitic,
Pharisees and Saducees, Unsupportive,
Mockers and Complainers, but friends who
will stand by us through the thick and thin
until we start reaping the fruits of our
labours.

4 Important Relationship Rules You Must Follow - Romance
No relationship comes with an instruction manual (although your parents are your natural instruction manual) and that is why most people are having it wrong. Being in a relationship is more than just about love (emotions) because emotions will definitely change under harsh conditions. Loving something who you don't know anything about or is not related to you in any way is a very big step that should be taken seriously.
So sit back and let your favorite health blogger dish some rules you should think about when in a relationship.
Now, One rule you matured men and women, and teenage boys and girls break in relationships is that no matter the quarrel, the fight, the war, you should never ever suggest a breakup (that is when you still see a future with him/her and not when you are being pounded to death)...
Here are 4 important relationships rules you must follow
1. Understanding Boundaries
Face it no matter how you much love her and she loves you, both of you will always have boundaries. How many of you have every shaved your girlfriend's pubic hair? None huh! you see that's the example of a boundary. There are might be more and that depends on you. The job of both parties is to understand each other's boundaries and respect it, also give time for both boundaries to be open up. The fewer the boundaries the higher the chance the relationship would survive.
2. Understanding Emotions
Relationships are romantic, sweet and whatever (meaning there is a lot of emotions involved) now for all those men who they don't care about all that female drama. Sorry, you have to and so goes for women. Understanding his/her emotions doesn't mean playing love and romance and buying gifts or surprising her sometimes or even being the best in bed.
Copyright: Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor ( realfitbody.com)
It is about studying the person you are dealing with (it takes time but only those who are really in a relationship for commitment could give it a try), their reactions, behavior and trying to improve on their bad sides like a friend and a lover.
Don't believe that stuff that women say about you trying to change who they are.
3. Understand Your Position in the Relationship
Knowing your position and understanding it is two different things.
Ladies are meant to be submissive or equal depending on the relationship. Men are meant to be alpha, equal or submissive depending on the relationship, now knowing and understanding your position in a relationship would help lead to a better relationship.
Now Imagine a relationship which the lady is meant to be submissive and when they have a quarrel she hisses and walks out making the man feel lesser. So it is important to know your position in every relationship to prevent simple mistakes.
Note: Not in all relationships the lady is equal to the man.
4. Know A Lot About Your Partner
Information is power and in relationships, it is very important to avoid unexpected situations. When I say you should know a lot about your partner, I don't mean hunting down his exes, I mean going farther than just the stuff you guys talk about on dates and learning more about your partner.
This knowledge will give you an edge in your relationship helping you understand better who you are dealing with and the best way to deal with such a person.
So there you have it. Remember to choose wisely, even the best men have flaws.

7 Reasons Why Most Nigerian Ladies Lose Shape After Marriage
Hello Guys it's your favorite health blogger, Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor
I noticed many Nigerian ladies, as well as their African counterpart, add more weight (which they find hard to lose) after marriage. I did my research and concluded that these reasons might be the cause.
You might want to note down one or two points even though if you are a man.
1. Child Bearing:
One of the reasons and the most likely reason why so many Nigerian ladies get out of shape after marriage is due to childbearing.
By the time they start giving birth to children and even during pregnancy, the body secretes hormones that causes weight gain in addition to the incredible amount of food they consume during pregnancy. This fat is stored in their bodies and can be very difficult to lose.
2. Refusal to Lose that After Baby weight:
Another reason is that most Nigerian ladies do not mind to exercise to lose the weight they gained during pregnancy, they just live with it, even after the second and third child.
They accept that they have become old mama's and decide to leave the attractive bodies to the little girls. Big mistake.
3. Too Much Food:
Many of these Nigerians ladies do not have a diet plan that helps them keep their shape after childbirth instead they feed off excess starch foods. (I don't even have one either, I am on team Calorie Moderation all the way)
Copyright: Paul Samuel FitnessDoctor ( realfitbody.com)
Most of them don't even know that when taking food you have to account for the nutrients and calories, and more could mean you are eating excess which gets stored as fat.
Some prefer to eat this or that because it is sweet, aromatic and they don't take into account the amount of calories they are consuming.
4. Lack of Exercise:
Most Nigerian ladies have never seen the four walls of a gym. I tend to focus more on indoor exercises to make it easier for my readers, but that hasn't still kickstarted the fitness spirit in most people.
Many ladies after marriage will resign from their fitness lifestyle to focus either on their marriage or on raising kids. They wouldn't want to walk either long or short distance, they will prefer to drive around in cars and many wouldn't want to run or do some cardio exercise to lose weight. These are some of the reasons some of them add weight beyond expectation.
5. Stress:
Dealing with stress as a single person is not easy and when marital bruhaha gets mixed up with all that, it becomes a lot more complicated.
Stress eating (which I have been through), is the easiest remedy for stress for most people and it is also the easiest way to an incredible amount of weight that would be hard to lose.
6. Late Night Food:
Late night meals store up calories in your body and since most women love to skip the early morning exercise, those calories go on to get stored as fat.
7. Birth Control Pills :
Yes, birth control pills can make you gain weight.
Staying in shape doesn't really take much for those who are determined to keep their hourglass shape and you wouldn't have to give up your favorite meals just to keep that shape (remember I said that I only follow food moderation).
Through family planning and the right exercises, you should be able to keep your shape and still look a lot younger than you could dream of

Through family planning and the right exercises, you should be able to keep your shape and still look a lot younger than you could dream of
Patience Jonathan Spotted At A Wedding Recently Looking Beautiful - Politics
Former First Lady Patience Jonathan has been in the news recently for many reasons, especially her issues with the EFCC. Other than that however, ex President Jonathan's wife has been very quiet and limited public appearances.
But recently, the outspoken 'Mama Peace' who turns 60 on the 25th of this month was spotted at the wedding of her friend's son in Abuja.
Prior to now, Mama Peace has come under fire many times for her 'interesting' sense of style but for the wedding in question she brought her A-game. Dressed in a green embroided green blouse adorned with beautiful stones and a complimenting green and pink wrapper, her out fit was well coordinated and thought out.
She finished off the look with a green headtie, and simple but beautiful white gold accessories. This is by far one of the best looks we've seen on the former first lady.

Group condemns El-Rufai’s second term endorsement
The Kaduna Restoration Group (KRG) has condemned Governor El-Rufai's second term endorsement
- KRG said it does not see any reason El-Rufai will win the upcoming state governorship election
- The group, however, said it is aware that the governor is desperate to remain in power after 2019
The Kaduna Restoration Group has accused Nasir el-Rufai, the Kaduna state governor, of orchestrating his second term endorsement by a section of the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
NAIJ.comgathered this in a statement jointly signed by Ahmed Tijjani Ramalan and Yusuf Dankofa, chairman and secretary of the group respectively.
The statement read:''We are also aware of the desperation of the governor and his cronies, who have clearly seen that despite their hollow propaganda to project their so called candidate as the best thing to have happened to Kaduna state in recent times, have realised that the masses of Kaduna state and other teeming stakeholders, have come to understand that the governor is simply unsellable and unelectable in 2019.

''It is based on the above background that the said political jobbers, who are themselves political liabilities with zero electoral value, decided to adopt this ‘black market’ approach to clear the coast for their benefactor, which is an antithesis to all known democratic ethos that embody fair contest and choice for the people.''
According to the group,''After spending about three years in office, Governor el-Rufai had dissipated more energy in fighting and abusing perceived enemies, apart from embarking on white elephant and multitude of incomplete and abandoned projects.
